Overview is the first report you see after you sign in.

Controls and live activity

The toolbar stays visible as you move through the report:

ControlWhat it changes
LiveShows distinct visitors, distinct sessions, and all events from the trailing 30 minutes. It refreshes every 30 seconds and does not use the selected report date range.
Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 daysChanges the reporting period. Last 7 days is the default.
CustomOpens rolling and calendar presets, plus a calendar for a custom range.
FiltersSelects a source or narrows the report by channel, source, path, device, operating system, country, city, or event name.

The source selection also applies to Live activity. The other report filters do not change the Live counts.

Dashboard Overview metrics

Start with the scorecards to confirm that data is arriving and understand current traffic:

ScorecardWhat it meansHow to use it
VisitorsDistinct non-empty visitor IDs seen in the selected period.Compare it with sessions to separate recognized visitors from visit volume.
SessionsDistinct non-empty session IDs. A session ends after 30 minutes of inactivity.Use it as visit volume.
Page ViewsEvents whose name is page_view.Use it to check how much content was viewed.
Bounce RateSessions with exactly one page_view divided by all sessions, regardless of other event types in those sessions.Use it to find periods or traffic groups with shallow browsing.
Consent RateDistinct sessions with a non-empty visitor ID divided by all distinct sessions. It is not calculated from consent-event totals.Use it to understand how much session activity is connected to recognized visitors.
Session DurationMedian session duration, excluding sessions shorter than five seconds. It is not an average.Use it with channel and page context. Long sessions are not always better.

Each scorecard compares the selected period with the immediately preceding period of the same length. Bounce Rate and Consent Rate show the absolute change in percentage points; Session Duration shows the time difference.
