Metrics Glossary
Plain-language definitions for the metrics shown in the Hardal Dashboard.
Use this glossary for the metrics currently shown in Overview and AI Visibility.
Core metrics
| Metric | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Visitors | Distinct non-empty visitor IDs seen in the selected period. |
| Sessions | Distinct non-empty session IDs. A session ends after 30 minutes of inactivity. |
| Page Views | Events whose name is page_view. |
| Bounce Rate | Sessions with exactly one page_view divided by all sessions, regardless of other event types in those sessions. |
| Consent Rate | Distinct sessions with a non-empty visitor ID divided by all distinct sessions. It is not calculated from consent-event totals. |
| Session Duration | Median session duration, excluding sessions shorter than five seconds. It is not an average. |
Overview compares each scorecard with the immediately preceding period of the same length.

Live activity
The Live strip uses a trailing 30-minute window and refreshes every 30 seconds.

| Live Visitors | Distinct non-empty visitor IDs in the trailing 30 minutes. |
| Live Sessions | Distinct non-empty session IDs in the trailing 30 minutes. |
| Live Events | All events in the trailing 30 minutes. |
The report date range and dimension filters do not change this window. A selected source does apply to the Live counts.
AI Visibility metrics
| Metric | Meaning |
|---|---|
| AI Agent Visits / AI Visits | Visits from identified AI agents. This metric stays AI-only when AI Focus is off. |
| Agent Visits | Visits from agents matching the current AI Focus setting. |
| Agents | Distinct agents matching the current AI Focus setting. |
| Platforms | Distinct agent platforms matching the current AI Focus setting. |
| Categories | Distinct agent categories matching the current AI Focus setting. |
| Pages Covered | Distinct pages visited by matching agents. |
| Average Page Visits | Matching agent visits divided by the number of distinct matching agents. |
| AI Share | AI visits divided by all agent visits for a page. |
