Set Up Server-Side GTM

Follow the Server-side Google Tag Manager setup guide if not already configured.

Configure GA4 Client

In your server-side GTM container:

  1. Ensure the built-in "GA4" client is configured
  2. Set Default GA4 paths: Enabled
  3. Set Cookies and Client Identification: Server Managed

Add LinkedIn CAPI Tag

  1. In server container, go to "Tags" → "New"
  2. Search Community Template Gallery for "LinkedIn | CAPI Tag Template"
  3. Add to workspace and configure:
    • LinkedIn API Access Token
    • LinkedIn Conversion Rule ID
    • EventID mapping
    • Conversion Value mapping

Create Event Trigger

  1. Create a Custom Event trigger
  2. Set Event Name to your conversion events (e.g., "purchase", "lead", "sign_up")
  3. Configure condition: "Event Name equals [your conversion event]"

Configure LinkedIn Campaign Manager

  1. Go to Account Assets → Conversions
  2. Create conversion with "Conversions API" source
  3. Select "Google Tag Manager" integration
  4. Add your GA4 measurement ID and Hardal sGTM endpoint

Test Implementation

  1. Enable Preview mode in both web and server containers
  2. Trigger a conversion action on your website
  3. Verify LinkedIn CAPI tag fires and sends data successfully
