Shopify Setup

Install the Hardal Shopify app to create a Signal automatically, start tracking your store, and optionally use a first-party URL.

Install Hardal from the Shopify App Store to track your storefront without adding the web script yourself. During installation, Hardal creates a Signal for the store and starts collecting events.

You don't need to create a Signal or add the Hardal script. Hardal handles both during installation, and Shopify events start flowing automatically.

Before you start

Your Shopify account must have permission to install apps.

Install Hardal on Shopify

Open Hardal in the Shopify App Store

Go to Hardal: Conversion Tracking, select Install, and sign in to Shopify if prompted.

Choose the store

Choose the store you want to connect. Check the requested app access before continuing.

Approve the installation

Approve the installation in Shopify. Hardal creates a Signal for the store and connects the app to it. Tracking starts automatically.

Verify new activity

Open the storefront and interact with it. In the Dashboard, open the Signal created during installation and go to Analytics → Events. Confirm that the new events appear.

Use a first-party URL

Setting up a first-party URL is optional. The Shopify app uses the URL created during installation. Set up a custom domain if you want to send Shopify events through a URL on your own domain.

Set up the custom domain

Install the Shopify app first, and don't add the web script. In the Dashboard, open the Signal created for your store and go to Settings → Setup. Under Custom Domain Guide, add a CNAME record with the exact Name, Type, and Value shown.

Check the DNS record

Return to Settings → Setup. Under Check Status, enter the full custom domain, such as signal.yourdomain.com, and click Check Status. If the record isn't active yet, wait and try again. DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours, depending on your provider.

Use the first-party URL

Once the status check succeeds, use the HTTPS base URL for that domain, such as https://signal.yourdomain.com.

Update the Shopify app

In Shopify Admin, open Apps → Hardal, then choose Configure Analytics. Set Signal URL to the verified first-party URL. Leave the automatically assigned Signal ID unchanged, then choose Save and Start Tracking.

Verify tracking again

Interact with the storefront again. In the Dashboard, open the same Signal and go to Analytics → Events to confirm that new events still appear.

Enter the exact verified base URL. Do not add an endpoint path such as /collect or /push/hardal.
